experiencing his Japanese students and the glorious country of Japan. Both on and off
the mat, the Way of Peace, as O Sensei called aikido, lifted us and pointed to the Spirit
that is in, with and under all things. I will remain thankful for the gifts that Kato Sensei
gave me. In addition to those I have mentioned, I will always remember his extraordinary
command of energy, his humor, his wisdom and his uncanny sense of all that was
happening around him-- a sense that often extended into what was unspoken in the
hearts and minds of his students. Hiroshi Kato Shihan has transitioned to the next life
and I will miss him. But I expect that his influence will continue with me all my days. My
prayers are with him and with all whose lives were influenced by him.
Blessings and Love,
Nirmoha Neil Gladen – Rocky Valley Aikido

I am a member of Rocky Valley Aikido and feel fortunate to have enjoyed time with Kato
